About  Last year we brought Philidelphia artist Max Lawrence to create a wall-sized, lion-shaped body contact synthesizer. This year, he'll using his unique mixture of ghetto technology and folk engineering to bring Kimberlite and the Pipes* to life. This is an interactive animatronics (as in animals!) dueling synth straight out of his SFMOMA exhibit. The installation will be under construction for the duration of the Symposium, culminating in a demo and vernissage.

*kimberlite pipes are the channels on molten lava from the center of the earth in which diamonds form.
